It is my privilege to welcome you to the 9th Congress of the International Society for Holter and Non-Invasive Electrocardiology and ICPEP (International Congres on Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology ) 2000 in the lovely city of Üstanbul; A Meeting that fits very well bridging non-invasive and invasive, where the two continent meets at the turning point of the Millenum.
The joint organisation of the two Congresses has created a unique scientific opportunity which will be a forum for the recent developments both in non-invasive and invasive aspects of the field of electrocardiology. A superb programme has been prepared and advances in non-invasive and invasive diagnosis ,pharmacologic and electrical therapy for arrhythmias as well as ambulatory monitoring of blood pressure , monitoring for myocardial ischemia and related issues are highlighted by an excellent Faculty. The Scientific programme is enriched with Symposia, Lectures, Debates, Meet-the Expert and How to Sessions as well as presentation of the submitted communications. With their high scientific level the industry sponsored symposia are added value. An important part of the programme is a series of Sessions on Myocardial Repolarisation dedicated to the memory of Ronnie Campbell, a good friend for many of us and one of the pioneers in the field of arrhythmology. We did not forget our nurse and technician collegues and with the Working Group of Cardiovascular Nursing of the Turkish Society of Cardiology an educational session is composed. Another joint session is with the Working Group on cardiac Pacing and Arrhythmia of the Turkish Society of Cardiology and Italian Association of Cardiac Pacing. Senior and Young Investigator Awards by Del Mar and ICPEP Awards will go to the owners along with the Best Poster Awards .
Üstanbul does not need any introduction being a magnificant city as a natural gateway between Europe and Asia, on the Bosphorus with rich historical heritage of different cultures and religions representing a unique link between east and west, past and present .A carefully arranged social programme with friendly welcome and famous Turkish hospitality will enhance the spirit of the collegial and stimulating atmosphere.
