P. Puech as early as 19541
demonstrated thanks to a combination of surface ECG and oesophageal leads that the
morphology of wide P wave with morphology in II, III and VF was seen in case of advanced
interatrial block and was explained by a craneocaudal vector of activation of right atrium
followed by a caudocraneal activation of a left atrium (Fig. 1C). Later isolated cases and
short series2-5 were published of this type of
interatrial block. Different authors also confirmed by oesophageal ECG and
electrophysiologically the retrograde activation of left atria.
