Background

Previous studies1,2 have demonstrated that during paroxysmal reentrant supraventricular tachycardia a ST segment depression is frequently observed and, even if marked, it does not appear secondary to myocardial ischemia. In a recent study3 this pattern has been analyzed in order to evaluate its usefulness in order to differentiate the tachycardia mechanism. In the above mentioned studies the tachycardia was non spontaneous, but induced during electrophysiological study. Aim of the present study was to systematically investigate 1) the ST segment depression during spontaneous tachycardia and 2) the ST-T alterations during sinus rhythm, after arrhythmia interruption. In this paper only the ST depression during tachycardia is reported.
