Introduction

Paroxysmal atrial fibrillation is a common clinical problem in hemodialysis patients. The onset of the arrhythmias is usually observed during hemodialysis. It has a spontan-eous resolution within few hours but frequently gives hemodynamic problems not allowing the normal accomplishment of the procedure.
In this study we investigated the possible beneficial effect of a IC antiarrhythmic drug, propafenone, on atrial fi-brillation prophylaxis in hemodialysis patients.
