Introduction

Despite the achievements of the cardiac arrhythmia treatment, still there are many problems left unsolved, especially in the pathogenesis of mechanisms of heart rhythm disturbances, which determines differentiated use and efficacy of various antiarrhythmic drugs.
Recently great interest in the new drug (III class, Vaughan Williams classification) with significant antiarrhythmic efficacy in various types of heart rhythm disturbances and minimal side effects arise1-5.
The aim of our investigation was an evaluation of antiarrhythmic efficacy of the III class drug sotalol with the beta-blocking properties in supraventricular paroxysmal tachy-arrhythmias and ventricular heart rhythm disturbances.
We study the efficacy of this antiarrhythmic drug taking into consideration the significance of the clinical electrophysiological and ECG-monitoring data in each individual case.
