Clinical presentation

Inappropriate sinus tachycardia is far more common in females than in males, with a 5:1 ratio, and has been mainly observed in young adults, with an average age of about 30 years5. Symptoms include palpitations, dizziness, presyncope or, more rarely, syncope. Physical examination is normal, as well as chest X-ray, echocardiogram and laboratory tests; in particular urinary cathecolamines have been shown to be normal.
