Abstract

In the era when radiofrequency ablation is considered first line therapy for many arrhythmias, it seems sensible to employ a nomenclature for atrial tachyarrhythmias which is based on the geometry of the tachycardia substrate, the relationship of that substrate to atrial anatomy, and the type of radiofrequency lesion required to abolish that substrate.

Key Words

Cardiac arrhythmias - classification
atrial tachycardia classification, tachycardia substrate geometry, substrate-based classification, focal atrial tachycardia, syndrome of inappropriate sinus tachycardia, macro-reentrant atrial tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, R
