Abstract

The consumption of resources due to rhythm disorders in Sweden is beeing described. Rhythm disorders are not uncommon but do not lay a heavy burden on health economics. Drug costs for some drugs with antiarrhythmic actions are increasing in a noticeable way. Pacemaker treatment is fairly constant and admissions for rhythm disorders or conduction disorders are beeing reduced. Drug sales due to disorders in the heart and circulatory system constitute 14% of all drug sale costs whereas hospital costs for arrhythmias are in the order of less than 1%..
