I still have a respectful reminiscence of my encounters with the late Giorgio Feruglio and with the late Bert Thalen^1,2. They are the founders of the European Pacemaker Registry. Not to forget A.F. Rickards³ another past chairman of our group, the organizerof the first Europace meeting. His particular merit was the development and introduction of the European Pacemaker Patient Identification Card, in close cooperation with IAPM (International Association of Medical Prosthesis Manufacturers). Nowadays A.F. Rickards remains responsible for the website of EWGCP: http://www.heart.org.uk/ewgcp. In this paper the numbers and figures address the years 1996 and 1997.
