Introduction

Severe ventricular arrhythmias may occur in patients with left ventricular aneurysms, usually as a consequence of a previous myocardial infarction with systolic bulging of the scarred myocardium1. Ventricular tachyarrhythmias have also been described in association with congenital2, cardiomyopathic3-5, inflammatory6-8 and idiopathic left ventricular aneurysms9,10.
Nevertheless the cause of ventricular arrhythmias in patients with normal cardiac volumes and function and without coronary artery disease remains often unclear (i.e. apparently idiopathic ventricular arrhythmias)11,12.
We report our experience on 10 patients with ventricular tachycardia and apparently normal hearts in which the arrhythmias were caused by occult inflammatory left ventricular aneurysms.
